NADRA Introduces Enhanced Security Features in Upgraded B-Form for Children

In a bid to bolster security measures and combat identity theft, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the introduction of special security features in the B Form (registration certificate) for children over 10 years old. This decision comes following the directive of Federal Minister of Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, and will involve the mandatory inclusion of fingerprints and photographs of children in the B Form.

Commencing from January 15, the issuance of the new B Form will be conducted in phases. NADRA has collaborated with the Passport Department to implement this new security measure. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the significance of these measures in preventing the misuse of children’s identity information, which can lead to crimes such as fake identity cards, illegal passport acquisition, and human trafficking.

Under the new system, children aged 10 to under 18 will be required to provide their fingerprints and photographs at NADRA centres with the assistance of a parent or legal guardian. The updated B Form, containing the child’s biometric data, will then be issued for official use, including passport applications.

Parents are urged to ensure compliance with the new requirements to facilitate the verification process during passport applications. Failure to obtain the updated B Form with biometric data may result in rejection of applications for children in this age group.

NADRA’s initiative to enhance the security features of the B Form aligns with its commitment to streamline registration processes and ensure the official recognition of children in Pakistan from a young age. The updated fee structure for the B Form remains affordable at Rs 50 for regular processing, with an expedited processing option available for Rs 500.

As NADRA continues to implement reforms to safeguard children’s identities, further enhancements are expected in the upcoming phases to strengthen the existing security protocols and protect minors in the national database.
