Sindh Government’s Directive on Advance Fee Collection in Private Schools
The Sindh Education Department has recently made a significant announcement that will impact private schools across the region. In a bid to alleviate the financial burden on parents and students, the Directorate of Inspection and Private Institutions has issued a directive instructing private schools not to collect advance additional fees from students. According to Refia Javed, Additional Director of Private Institutions Registration, a circular was released on December 23, 2024, outlining important decisions regarding the upcoming annual exams for 9th and 10th-grade students, as well as the new academic session. In light of these decisions, private schools are now required to only charge tuition fees for the month of April from matriculation students. This measure aims to support students preparing for their exams in March 2025 by easing the financial burden on them and their families.
Moreover, students from pre-primary to 9th grade, along with those moving from 9th to 10th grade in 2025, are expected to receive vouchers for June and July fees in April. These fees will then be due in June and July, allowing families to plan and budget accordingly.
Reopening of Schools in Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir
In other educational news, the Sindh Education Department has confirmed that schools in the province will resume normal operations on January 1, 2025, following the winter break. Conversely, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir education department has extended winter holidays due to inclement weather conditions. A notification was issued, extending the break until January 4, 2025, for both public and private educational institutions in the region.
