Punjab Embraces Sustainable Transport with 27 Solar-Powered Buses
In a landmark decision, the Punjab government has announced the introduction of 27 solar-powered electric buses in Lahore as part of its ongoing efforts to promote cleaner and more sustainable public transportation. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the province’s commitment to reducing air pollution and embracing green energy solutions.
Key Decisions Made in High-Level Review Meeting
The decision to launch these eco-friendly buses was made during a high-level review meeting of the Punjab government’s development schemes. Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, along with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, presided over the meeting, where crucial decisions were taken to enhance public welfare and infrastructure in the province.
Focus on Environmental Conservation and Social Welfare
During the meeting, the government also discussed various other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of Punjab. These included the distribution of Ramazan Nigahban Package cards to provide financial relief during the holy month, as well as updates on the progress of ongoing development schemes and new projects across different ministries and departments.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the establishment of shelters in Rawalpindi and Sargodha, the construction of a Model Children’s Home in Attock, and efforts to protect the Chhanga Manga Forests. The government also approved additional funds for various projects, including the Kala Shah Kaku Judicial Academy and the development of iron ore reserves.
Commitment to Sustainable Development and Social Welfare
In her address, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of sustainable development and social welfare initiatives. She called for the completion of a feasibility study for a model fish market in Lahore, the establishment of a State-of-the-Art Climate Observatory in Thokar Niaz Baig, and the rapid upgrading of veterinary colleges in Jhang and Cholistan.
Aurangzeb also stressed the need to accelerate the establishment of health and safety facilities for workers in Faisalabad, along with the construction of hostels and daycare centers for working women across Punjab. She highlighted the government’s commitment to monitoring project progress and ensuring the quality and governance of ongoing initiatives.
