24-Hour Passport Counters at NADRA Mega Centres: Convenient and Efficient Services

In a bid to streamline passport processing services for citizens, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced 24-hour passport counters at its Mega Centres nationwide. This move comes following the directive of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, aiming to enhance convenience and efficiency for passport applicants.

Expanding Services Nationwide

Under the guidance of Director-General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, NADRA has established 10 passport processing counters at Mega Centres in Karachi’s Nazimabad and Site areas, specifically at Siemens Chowrangi. This initiative allows citizens to access passport services round the clock, addressing the long-standing issue of delays in passport issuance.

Efficient Operations in Major Cities

Following the successful implementation of 24-hour services in Karachi, the initiative has now been extended to other major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, and more. The Islamabad office has been operating 24/7, while Karachi’s Awami Markaz and Lahore’s Garden Town offices are now open for citizens round the clock. These extended hours ensure a smoother and more timely process for applicants, alleviating the burden on the central passport office.

Enhancing Service Delivery

The decision to introduce 24-hour passport processing counters stemmed from the need to reduce congestion at the central office and provide citizens with alternative centres for passport services. During a recent visit to Karachi, Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi finalized the plan to establish passport offices at NADRA centres, paving the way for improved service delivery nationwide.

Innovations in Identity Verification

In an effort to further enhance service delivery, NADRA will be introducing a new facial recognition feature at its centres and mobile app from January 15. This feature aims to assist citizens who may face challenges with biometric verification through fingerprints, ensuring a more inclusive and efficient process for all applicants.

Consultative Conference for Stakeholders

To discuss ways to enhance the biometric and identity verification system, NADRA will be hosting a consultative conference at its headquarters, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors. The conference will focus on addressing the challenges of identity verification and outlining steps to improve service delivery for both regulators and citizens, emphasizing a collaborative approach towards enhancing the overall passport processing system.

As we navigate the complexities of passport processing, it is heartening to see efforts being made to streamline services and prioritize citizen satisfaction. The introduction of 24-hour passport counters and innovative features like facial recognition reflect a commitment to efficiency and inclusivity in service delivery. By engaging stakeholders and seeking continuous improvements, NADRA is setting a positive example for enhanced public service delivery. Let us embrace these advancements and look forward to a more seamless passport application process for all.
