PESHAWAR: A devastating road accident in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) resulted in the loss of twelve lives. The incident occurred due to a catastrophic brake failure involving a trailer that collided with multiple vehicles, including a bus, on Indus Highway near the Ambiri Kallay chowk.
Rescue and Relief Efforts Underway
The Deputy Commissioner of Karak confirmed that the trailer’s brake failure led to the tragic accident. The out-of-control truck crashed into several vehicles on the highway, causing extensive damage and casualties. As rescue operations continue, authorities fear that the death toll may increase further. Thirteen individuals sustained injuries in the incident, adding to the gravity of the situation.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi of K-P promptly addressed the situation, calling for comprehensive information on the accident. He instructed the health department to provide immediate aid to the injured victims. Additionally, Governor Kundi mobilized Red Crescent teams for relief efforts and encouraged PPP workers to actively participate in the relief activities at Ambiri Kallay by donating blood.
Driver Arrested, Traffic Resumes
Following the accident, the trailer driver, identified as Samiullah from Lakki Marwat district, was apprehended in an injured state. Currently receiving medical treatment, the driver faces legal consequences for his involvement in the tragic incident. Meanwhile, the main highway has been reopened to facilitate the resumption of traffic flow in the area.
