Punishing Human Traffickers: PM Shehbaz’s Call for Action

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a firm stance against human traffickers and their enablers, calling for robust action to dismantle these networks and protect vulnerable lives. During a recent high-level meeting, PM Shehbaz commended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for their proactive measures in targeting government officials involved in aiding human trafficking operations.

Swift Legal Action

PM Shehbaz emphasized the urgency of seizing the assets of traffickers and holding them accountable through stringent legal measures. He stressed the importance of setting an example by taking strict legal actions against all human trafficking groups operating within the country, sending a clear warning to others involved in such illicit activities. To bolster these efforts, the Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Law and Justice to enlist top-tier prosecutors to strengthen cases against traffickers and ensure effective legal proceedings.

International Collaboration

In a bid to tackle transnational trafficking operations, PM Shehbaz instructed the Foreign Office to collaborate with international counterparts for the extradition of Pakistani nationals running trafficking syndicates from overseas. This cross-border cooperation aims to disrupt these criminal networks and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Nationwide Awareness Campaign

To curb illegal migration and promote safe avenues for seeking overseas employment, PM Shehbaz called for a nationwide awareness campaign in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This initiative seeks to educate the public on the legal pathways available for working abroad and deter individuals from falling prey to human traffickers.

Enhancing Technical Training

Recognizing the importance of skilled professionals in the global market, PM Shehbaz underscored the need to enhance technical training institutes to produce certified workers aligned with international demands. Furthermore, he directed authorities to improve screening protocols at airports to prevent illicit migration and protect individuals from exploitation.

As PM Shehbaz Sharif leads the charge against human trafficking, his unwavering commitment to justice and safety reflects a dedicated effort to safeguard the vulnerable and hold perpetrators accountable. Through coordinated national and international efforts, Pakistan aims to dismantle these criminal networks and protect the dignity and rights of all individuals.
