NDMA Pakistan’s Delegation at RCC Forum in Thailand

NDMA Pakistan’s delegation, led by Chairman Lt. Gen Inam Haider Malik, participated in the 18th meeting of the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday. The RCC is a crucial regional forum aimed at promoting consultation and cooperation to reduce disaster and climate change risks in Asia and the Pacific region.

Theme of the RCC Meeting

The theme of this year’s RCC meeting was “Sustainable Anticipatory Actions for Resilient Development Goals.” This theme strongly resonates with NDMA Pakistan’s proactive Disaster Risk Management (DRM) approach. The delegation emphasized the importance of timely anticipating disasters through advanced technologies and taking appropriate actions to reduce losses.

Keynote Speech by Chairman Lt. Gen Inam Haider Malik

In his keynote speech at the RCC meeting, Chairman Lt. Gen Inam Haider Malik highlighted the severe impacts of climate change in the Asia-Pacific Region and in Pakistan. He pointed out the rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and water-related crises that are threatening socio-economic development progress in the region. Chairman Malik stressed the urgent need for developing appropriate financial mechanisms to provide the necessary resources to the most affected countries for dealing with the impacts of climate change through Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) strategies.
