Today, Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) is being marked nationwide to honor the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq and pay tribute to the valiant armed forces and people of Pakistan.
In a ceremony at Islamabad’s Pakistan Monument, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the armed forces for their exceptional bravery and professionalism during the recent conflict with India. He expressed that Pakistan now stands in a position of strength that no major power can block, with the entire nation united with one heart and soul alongside the armed forces.
The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to the parents and families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, as well as to the federal ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, senior generals, government officials, and distinguished diplomats present at the event.
A Historic Victory Commemorated with Deep Gratitude
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the significance of the day, referring to it as a momentous occasion that only comes once in centuries. He recalled the tragic events of 1971 when East Pakistan was separated from the country and emphasized how, on May 10, 2025, Pakistan avenged that sorrowful chapter in its history through the strength of the nation and the grace of Allah.
The Prime Minister recounted how Pakistan’s sincere offer to establish an international investigative committee to uncover the truth behind the incident was rejected by the enemy. Instead, the adversary launched a brutal attack on Pakistan, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and sending a ruthless message of their capabilities.
Bravery and Resilience of Pakistan’s Armed Forces
Shehbaz Sharif praised the exceptional bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces during the recent conflicts, highlighting how they shot down enemy aircraft and delivered devastating blows that the enemy will not soon forget. He recalled a conversation with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, who expressed the desire to deliver a memorable response to the enemy.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of domestically developed technology used by Pakistan’s air force against Chinese aircraft, showcasing advanced capabilities that have garnered acknowledgment from allies around the world. He also criticized India’s claims of economic and military superiority, attributing Pakistan’s victory to divine will and the unity of the nation alongside the armed forces.
In a display of strength and solidarity, the ceremony included an aerial performance by fighter jets, met with enthusiastic chants of “Long live Pakistan” from the attendees. The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces and the resilience of the Pakistani people in the face of adversity.
As Pakistan commemorates the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq on this Day of Gratitude, the nation stands united in honoring the bravery and sacrifices of its armed forces, showcasing unwavering resilience and determination in the face of challenges.
