Afghan National Involved in Terrorism Killed, Body Delivered to Kabul
An Afghan national terrorist, identified as Muhammad Khan Ahmedkhel, was killed in Sambaza, Zhob district of Balochistan on 11 January 2025, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday. Ahmedkhel, the son of Haji Qasim Dawran Khan, hailed from Bilorai village in Wazekhwa district, Paktika province, Afghanistan.
Terrorist Activity and Handover
The ISPR confirmed that the deceased was actively involved in perpetrating acts of terrorism within Pakistan. Following necessary legal procedures, Ahmedkhel’s body was transferred to officials of the Interim Afghan Government (IAG) on 20 January. This incident sheds light on the undeniable involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities on Pakistani soil, as emphasized by the ISPR.
Cross-Border Implications and Calls for Action
The military authorities urged Kabul to fulfill its obligations by preventing Afghan territory from being used as a launchpad for terrorist assaults against Pakistan. This plea comes in the wake of previous demands made to Afghanistan’s interim government to crack down on banned organizations operating with impunity within its borders, leading to regional instability.
Continued Counter-Terrorism Efforts
In a year-end briefing, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry underscored the persistent threat posed by these outlawed groups in Afghanistan. He highlighted Pakistan’s substantial counter-terrorism accomplishments in 2024, including a record 59,775 intelligence-based operations resulting in the elimination of 925 terrorists, among whom 73 were high-value targets. These actions signify Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring regional peace and stability.
