Massive Manhunt Launched for Abducted Workers in Lakki Marwat

A staff van was set ablaze by terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) after abducting at least nine civilian factory workers from the Kabal Khel area, sparking a massive manhunt to rescue the victims, the police reported on Thursday.

Terrorists Kidnap 17 Civilian Workers Affiliated with Government Project

According to officials, a group of terrorists linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) abducted 17 civilian staff members from a government project on Darra Tang Road in Lakki Marwat. The perpetrators stopped a minibus carrying workers, including a driver, at gunpoint and forcefully took them away, leaving the staff van in flames.

Shahid Marwat, the spokesperson for Lakki Marwat district police, revealed that the abducted workers included key personnel such as senior admin officers, senior technicians, computer operators, junior assistants, watchmen, and others. Despite swift action by security forces and law enforcement, only eight of the kidnapped workers have been rescued so far, with three sustaining minor injuries.

Immediate Recovery Efforts and Ongoing Operations

The police are actively engaged in an extensive operation to locate and rescue the remaining workers. Authorities have confirmed that medical treatment was provided to the rescued hostages at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, highlighting the physical toll of the harrowing ordeal.

In response to the kidnapping incident, local mosques across various villages in the district have issued calls for protests, denouncing the heinous act of terrorism and demanding justice for the victims. This alarming event unfolded as the K-P Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralized three terrorists associated with a TTP faction in a separate operation in the Malang Adda region.

As the search intensifies and the community rallies in solidarity, the urgency to bring the abducted workers safely home grows more imperative by the hour. The resilience of the authorities and unwavering support from the public stand as a beacon of hope in the midst of adversity, underscoring the relentless pursuit of peace and justice against all odds.
