Sindh Reports Over 2,000 New COVID-19 Cases

In a startling update, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah revealed that the province recorded a staggering 2,179 new cases of coronavirus in a single day. This surge comes as a part of the 9,244 samples tested on that particular day, showcasing the alarming spread of the virus within the region.

Testing Capacity Stretched to 12,000 Daily

CM Murad disclosed that the province’s daily testing capacity has now been expanded to 12,000, thanks to the operational laboratories in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Gambat, and Sehwan. These facilities have been conducting tests for the past month, with different capacities allocated to each institute to ensure a comprehensive screening process.

Rising Death Toll and Recovery Rates

Tragically, 26 more individuals lost their lives to the virus overnight, bringing the total death toll in Sindh to 1,269. However, CM Shah reassured the public that the government’s efforts have helped reduce the mortality rate through extensive awareness campaigns.

On a more hopeful note, 1,079 patients successfully recovered from the disease, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 44,523, a significant milestone in the battle against COVID-19.

District-Wise Breakdown of Cases

The provincial capital, Karachi, witnessed a concerning spike with 1,406 new cases reported. CM Murad detailed the distribution of cases across different districts, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to curb the spread of the virus in specific areas.

Additionally, other districts such as Sukkur, Hyderabad, Ghotki, and Khairpur reported varying numbers of new cases, highlighting the widespread nature of the pandemic within the province.
